Purple Aviation can offer trial flights in a flexwing or fixed-wing microlights – it’s your choice! You can either head towards the Roman Wall, towards the Cheviot Hills, or take a scenic tour of the North East Coast and its three stunning castles. Having met your instructor and been introduced to the equipment (all flying suits and helmets etc. are provided) simply sit back and enjoy your flight! For those that wish to there will be an opportunity to handle the controls under the supervision of your instructor!

Our flight vouchers can be purchased online with a credit/debit card via PayPal and make a truly memorable birthday or Christmas present all at greatly reduced prices compared to those available on the high street. All trial flight vouchers are valid for 1 year from date of purchase and include a 10-minute pre-flight brief and a certificate recording your flight. Should you go on to train for your licence this time can be put towards your training.
Once you have received your flight voucher simply contact us at least one week in advance of your desired date to arrange a flight time. This time will be confirmed on the evening before or the morning of your flight subject to weather conditions. If your voucher is a gift for someone please state their name on the PayPal payment page.
30 Minute Trial Flight – £65
With the instructor in the front for the weight shift and by your side in the 3 axis this is an ideal length of flight for a first timer who simply wishes to feel the thrill of being in the air, or for someone who feels they may wish to begin training and want to try it out first. This is a brief introduction to the world of flight – a chance to handle the controls under supervision of an instructor and see how it is done!
60 Minute Trial Flight – £115
Still with the instructor in the front for the weight shift and by your side in the 3 axis this a longer flight for those who wish to take a tour of the lovely North East Coast line taking in 3 Castles and miles of Beach. Sit back and enjoy a longer, more leisurely flight. Again you will have a chance to handle the controls under supervision of the instructor.
Big Adventure – Land Away Special ! – £185
Want that little bit more and you have more time. Take a trip with your instructor to land at another airfield. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee whilst talking about your initial flight. Then put your skills in to practice on your return flight to our home airfield and collect your certificate. Approximately 2 hours flying time with an hour on the ground.
